My research focuses on improving the tertiary Soil Aquifer Treatment (SAT) by hybridization with oxygen based technologies. Specifically, on the effect of combined oxygen based treatments on the bio-chemical reactions in the soil and correlation with the structure of the microbial community attached to media. The applied experiments were conducted at the SHAFDAN plant in collaboration with my additional advisor Prof. Dror Avisar, Hydrochemistry laboratory, TAU and the Israeli national water company, Mekorot. This research has received funding from BMBF-MOST and The Israeli Water Authority. Currently, the lab scale model is examined in collaboration with Prof. K. Chandran laboratory at Columbia University, NY.
